Does Therapy Work with Teens?

Although adolescents may not be overly enthusiastic about entering counseling, in the end they commonly come to value the privacy of therapy.  Most teens are beginning to explore their autonomy and individuality as they enter high school, and therapy can offer a confidential place that is their very own.

Helping Your Teen
When looking to help your teenager, there are numerous options to explore, but the crucial first step is to help your teen develop a safe and private relationship with a therapist. Teenagers today are immersed in a stressful, competitive world in which they may have little time to pause and process the overwhelming changes occurring in their lives. Counseling can give them a valuable chance to pause and reflect. Teenagers are developing rapidly in many areas: socially, academically, physically, and psychologically.  That is a lot of change.

About Me
Along with my formal training in psychology, I am a former High School and College student-athlete. I also work as a professional Calculus and SAT tutor.  Through this varied experience with adolescents, I have developed a keen understanding of the unique stresses they face and how problems can manifest within a teenager’s social and academic world.  As a young professional myself, I have unique qualities to offer to youths.  I have both the education and training necessary to help young adults and the youthfulness that lets them know that I can identify with their struggles.  I can work with your teen to understand the challenges in his or her life and help your child build a sense of satisfaction with life.

My Experience
In addition to my training, education, and clinical work, I currently work as a supervisor of teens at the Teen Crisis Hotline called "Teenline" at Cedars-Sinai Hospital.  I oversee and train teens to talk to other teens about a wide range of serious issues ranging from stress to suicide.  This experience has provided a unique opportunity to understand troubled teenagers from a teen's perspective. Through this experience, I have developed a keen ability to connect with troubled teenagers and engage them in the process of better understanding their world.

Get Started
One of the most important aspects of helpful counseling is that you and your teenager feel comfortable with me.  That is why I am available to schedule a
Free 30 Minute Meeting to get to know each other.  After that, you can decide if you would like to set up an appointment for a full session with me.

I invite you to learn more About Me and My Approach to counseling.  I offer a Free First Meeting, weekend appointments, and Reasonable Fees. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you in any way that I can.
